This is an added adjunct to our ability to alter the shape in certain areas. Some areas will require filling; so potential fat that is removed is processed and placed in small volumes into the areas that need to be enhanced. This is known as fat grafting, a old procedure which has recently received new interest with improved techniques have lead to better survival of fat. Fat grafting has limitations as all fat which is placed may not survive, this leads to loss of size. The areas which require large enhancement may not be able to accommodate the desired volume due to extra pressure on the surrounding tissue.
Fat transfer is used to correct contour defects due to scars, areas where too much has been removed by liposuction and most popularly to enhance the buttock. The buttock enhancement is a combination of liposuction and fat transfer. Each individual’s desire varies and this will be assessed and a plan made towards this in the consultation.
