MEET DR. SMITH-MATTHEWS

Dr. Stephanie Smith-Matthews received her BSc. in Biology from Bay Path College in Massachusetts, USA. She then started her medical training at the University Hospital of the West Indies (Mona) where she completed her MB BS and internship. 

Stephanie’s passion for Dermatology began after working for 1 year as a Medical Officer in the Department of Dermatology at UHWI. She then pursued a 2-year Master of Science degree in Dermatology at the Boston University School of Medicine where she had the role of Chief Trainee from 2016-2018

Her interest peaked in the area of Cutaneous Oncology and she stayed at Boston University to complete a fellowship year in this sub-specialty. At the end of her fellowship year she was the recipient of the Boston University School of Medicine Department of Dermatology 2017-2018 Marie-France Demierre Award for Humanism in Medicine and the Nancy and G. Robert Baler, MD Distinguished Clinical Scholar Award, June 2018. 

Dr. Smith-Matthews treats general dermatologic conditions such as acne, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, blistering and autoimmune conditions. Her special area of interest is in the diagnosis and management of skin cancers including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, melanoma and cutaneous lymphomas, using a multi-disciplinary approach.
