Meet Dr. Fairclough

Dr. Jehovan Fairclough received his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery(MBBS) at the University of the West Indies and went on to complete the Doctor of Medicine (DM) in internal Medicine at the same Institution. During his training, he developed a passion for digestive medicine. He also spent time with some of his early mentors in Gastroenterology and grew to love endoscopy and had a vision to develop on the skills that already existed in Jamaica. He went to the University of Ottawa(Canada) and completed a Clinical fellowship in Adult gastroenterology and his passion for endoscopic intervention lead to a second fellowship in Advanced Therapeutic endoscopy which includes, Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio- Pancreatography (ERCP), advanced luminal interventions and Endoscopic ultrasound(EUS). He is the only fellowship trained Gastroenterologist in the Caribbean in EUS and other endoscopic techniques such as Endoscopic Zenker’s Diverticutomy.

Dr. Fairclough is a Board certified Gastroenterologist with the European Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom. He has published in reputable journals and written book chapters on colon cancer and colon cancer screening. He is currently a Consultant Gastroenterologist at the University Hospital of the West Indies and is passionate about expanding the field of endoscopy in Jamaica and the Caribbean.
